Hello, dear weebs. I’m Nexen and this blog, despite its name, is actually anime-review focused. There may be times where it branches off into something else, but in general, it’ll always be me, sitting in my room, giving my thoughts on Chinese cartoons(heheXD). Before I get off on a tangent, I’ll make some things clear; these reviews are obviously all opinion-based and I don’t care if you disagree. I’m not trying to suppress conversation and discussion, but I’ll definitely say that I’m not here to have arguments with anyone in the comments. That shit don’t float my boat and I certainly didn’t start this blog with that in mind. Conversely, if you catch my drift and agree that “boats and hoes” is an acceptable life motto, we can be good tomodachis.
Now, onto the nitty-gritty. There’s something that I adhere to when it comes to anime; namely, that I think there’s a fine line between prioritizing art, story, and character development. I don’t watch anime, period, that have subpar art style. So yes, I love a good story and perceivable character growth, but I can’t watch something that my eyes can get enough of. Good thing, for the vast majority of anime studios, that I like most of their work. I feel like I’m going to ostracize a lot of people by saying this, but it’s really the only reason I haven’t — nor will I ever — watched One Piece. Ya’ll straight up bonkers if you think that show has passable art, even after its gradual improvement over the years. It’s goofy as fuck, at best. With that said, you’ll very clearly see where my priorities lie and why I tend to give some leeway to certain shows that people consider “average”.
Thanks for reading this gobbledygook. Look forward to some anime reviews, since, like, I don’t have anything better to do these days. Btw, Kuroda, Sayuki is an incredibly well-drawn character and her voice actress did a hell of a job. >///<
